The Knit-a-thon Starts NOW!

Here we go … just a few minutes after 10 AM, the Knit for Food Knit-a-thon begins.

Yes, I could have done a better job with this video.

For those who can’t view the video, here’s what I’m knitting: Floating Squares Wrap designed by Amy Christoffers.

I’ll be knitting with Rowan Kidsilk Haze, 70% mohair, 30% silk.

I love the colors, but I really don’t like knitting with mohair. This knit-a-thon will help me get through this particular project.

If you want to donate to my team of one, or just want more information, please use this link: Team Marie at Knit for Food Knit-a-thon

For every donor (including me), I’ll will give $5 to a local food bank, Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

The clock is ticking, I gotta start knitting. See you all later!

Raji zonked out with my sweater-in-progress keeping his butt warm.

        • If a stray yarn comes within their field of vision, yeah, they’ll try to grab it 😸 So I have to be mindful, especially when Raji is on my lap. And then I have to “pack away” my yarns when I’m not knitting. Oh, here’s a cute story:
I was visiting a friend who had an English bulldog named Winston. I had brought my knitting with me and dropped my bag on the floor in the living room when I arrived. We talked in the kitchen for a few minutes and when we returned to the living room, we saw Winston with a ball of my yarn in his mouth, dragging my knitting across the room. My friend was embarrassed by her dog, but I just laughed. I don’t remember what I was knitting at the time, just that it was machine-washable. But my friend had to retrieve the ball of yarn. I didn’t want to get near Winston’s jaws of steel 😆

    • Thank you, Laura! I don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing myself talk … 😬… but I appreciate your kind words. The wrap is going to be truly lovely, but working with mohair is a slow process because the yarn is so fuzzy. I have to really focus so I don’t drop stitches.
