A Gulf Fritillary chrysalis, from a few days ago. We didn’t get to see this guy emerge but we have had a lot of butterflies, including Gulf Fritillaries, in our garden so far this season.
We use iSeek (an app for identifying plants, animals, etc.) when we see things like this chrysalis. The app has really helped a lot … well, helped me a lot ;-)

How interesting. I would have loved to watch it emerge.

I hope we get that lucky. I was surprised to see it was still there this morning, but Gulf Fritillaries can take a few weeks to emerge.

And it’s still there. It’s been there a couple of weeks. We’re surprised the butterfly hasn’t emerged yet, considering how hot it’s been.

Me too. We’ll be checking it every day. It’s always possible that the larvae might die but … keep your fingers crossed 🤞
