All’s Well, Especially When Your Cats Are Medicated

To quote my recent Facebook post: Hurricane Idalia made landfall this morning, a bit further south than expected. Good for us, not good for others. We feel very lucky. However, we don’t have power so I’ll be turning my phone off soon 🙂 Just wanted to give you all an update.

You know, it really wonderful to have so many people care that I worry about running down the battery on my phone 😉😊❤️

      • True words, Laura, to never take anything for granted. We’re minimalists and try to eke out as best as we can with as little as we need. In a weird way, we hope our conservation means that those in need have access to more. Well, we’re minimalist but not when it comes to wine 😂 You all stay safe! Idalia is definitely living up to the reputation of the “I” storms ❤️

        • We just got electricity back on! YaY! Since we’re inland (60 miles from Myrtle) Idalia’s impact on us was minimal, but typical. As you know, impact can change on a dime during the storm. Other areas of SC, much greater impact. Now for clean up…
          Glad you guys are safe and I hope this season keeps everyone in ‘low impact’ mode.

          • Yay for electricity! I really wish we weren’t so dependent on it although the lack of electricity didn’t really bother me until it was time to go to bed. I missed my fans! 🤦🏼‍♀️🙂

    • Oh, indeed, if we came through unscathed, then you know someone else didn’t. We’re happy it’s over and our part of the state is cleaning up pretty quickly, but for too many people it will take years 😢

    • Us too! Well, it wasn’t as bad for us as it was for others. This is why we don’t live on the coast and why we never did buy our “dream” property of “a trailer on five acres with a septic tank.” (Seriously, we wanted to do that when we moved here.) 😬❤️

        • I think living out of an RV for a period of time, for travel, could be fun, but not indefinitely. A former coworker and her husband spend about three months every year traveling across country. They have a son in Colorado so they always visit him, spend the rest of the time visiting parks. But they are also retired 😉 I hope your kids rethink it too.

          • For me, more than a month would be awful. For them, it’s dumb. They are not at the right time in their lives. When they are retired, that’s another matter, but I still would want a permanent address for a lot of reasons. I am also cautious because I have had so many health issues.

            • Good point about needing a permanent address. When we moved to FL, we were able to set up a P.O. Box ahead of time, but still, when you’re on the road, you can’t be checking your mail. And you still need to because not everything is online … also, no guarantee that cell phone/internet service is available. There’s a devil in all those details …
